2014 New Bedding

Maybe a silly thing to put on the blog.  But I keep going back to what has driven me to do this project…and that is I have precious little from the Grandmother I attached myself to.  I would love a glimpse into her simple-nothing-special life.  Because it was special to me.  Everything about her was special to me.  I can’t remember what she wore, only that I stared at her for hours.  I don’t remember what her bed looked liked, only that it was there, through the doorway of her room, with a bed pan under it, always.  As vivid as she is my heart, my mind cannot recall the simplest of details.  And so.  I post silly things like this.  Because if any of my grandchildren love me like I loved my grandma, well, they will want to see silly things like this.  Always.

This bedding I did not want to get.  Bedding isn’t something I get terribly excited about, although once I get to putting it all together, well, I do enjoy it.  But I avoid it at all costs.  I hate spending money on bedding.  This year, unfortunately, our old old bedding began to disintegrate.  I was in no condition physically to go shopping for bedding.  I had had five spinal injections that continued to make my pain worse.  I’d been mostly bed ridden since the November before (it was April).  Being that I have a red couch in the bedroom, I couldn’t just order online, because the wrong red would be a disaster (yes mother, I can hear your exhaustive sigh over my vanity even from 2000 miles away).  So I had to take the throw pillows and give it a go.  Since I didn’t have more than about an hour in me to do it, I just went to Bed Bath and Beyond and bought what I liked.  I spent way too much money on the darn stuff (maybe one day I actually tell you what I spent, but I fear the retribution of my beloved family on both sides of the fence), it took me over a month to get it all out of the packages.  But.  There it is in all it’s glory.  And it’ll be another decade, probably, before I venture out for another go of finding new bedding.

Cheers!
