Mama Sunday (by me June 21, 2015)

It has been a year since mama died (yesterday).  As I look as these entries, I realize I didn’t record anything after the memorial on Thursday.  I don’t remember much about Friday, except for Holly’s mess (recorded in this notebook).  Saturday was quiet, visiting with daddy and packing to leave on Sunday.
On Sunday, our flight was early afternoon, so Katie and I had time to pack and go see Grandpa and Max (who was staying on a few more days).  We called them and asked if we could bring breakfast, and daddy wanted Bojangles.  We picked up the biscuits and headed over to say goodbye.  They were sitting on the porch.  It was early still, and daddy was trying to decide whether or not to attend church, knowing it would be difficult as the Sunday before mama collapsed there at the organ.  (ultimately they decided to go).  Daddy was excited for the biscuits.  We sat down and joined them, we had about 45 minutes to visit if I remember, so it was relaxed and quiet, with the sounds of summer in the country.  Daddy was enjoying his biscuit when I told him there were hashbrowns in the bag.  His eyes lit lup like child on Christmas morning! “Hash browns? Really?”  He reached in the bag and grabbed them right away.  Katie quietly walked in the house to return mama’s book “Letters by Sister Hinckley” that she had found and had been enjoying.  She wrote him a letter to put inside, I never read it.  But daddy sent us each a copy a few weeks later.
