Mama Thursday, Her Memorial Service (by me June 18, 2015)

We all met at Grandpa’s at 10:15 to drive over together and be escorted into a room for the family so that we wouldn’t be stopped by anyone before the service.
This was a memorial service, as opposed to a funeral, because her body was not there.  It had gone to the crematorium immediately after the viewing.  There were beautiful flowers everywhere, but no casket.  I like it a lot actually.  No following the casket after, just visiting with guests in the foyer.  No procession to the cemetery, no graveside service, and no watching the casket over the big hole in the ground.  It was nice to just focus on the happy memories of mama, and to visit with those who came, many who had driven long distances from other states, to be there.
